I work with my students using the following philosophies:
I use somewhat of a socratic teaching method and my lessons involve A LOT of questioning of the student to force them to think about how their body needs to move in order to create successful mechanics.
I try to explain WHY I am teaching a certain physical or mental skill instead of having my students do it 'Just because Coach Brett said so.'
I incorporate 'Mental Skills Training' into every lesson or clinic as I believe the mental training in sports is just as important, if not more important than the physical training.
I believe the mental skills I teach are 'Tools For Life' and sports is just a way to learn and incorporate those tools into your entire life journey.
I try to have my students FEEL their actions as focusing on the FEELING is a much faster way for creating change than trying to just 'Think About' the mechanics.
I often use video analysis as a teaching tool, so if you are uncomfortable with me using video, please notify me before your session.
Lastly and most importantly, I make sure my students have FUN while they work with me as if they are not having fun, it is not worth putting in the time, effort and energy to getting better.
